Joomi is the oldest of four siblings — one sister and two brothers. Born in Germany she later moved to the United States with her family. She carries a rich blend of cultures and experiences. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, a place known for its reflective and interdisciplinary approach to education.
Her path has included significant health challenges, including the lasting effects diabetes which later was the main cause of her strokes that left her paralyzed, along with her other health issues such as autism, depression, and schizophrenia. Through these realities she continues to seek meaning, healing, and connection, especially through her faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Fasting as a pathway to clearer mind, stronger body, and closer walk with Jehovah.
Joomi maintains a personal blog where she documents her journey to fast at least three days each month. Drawing inspiration from biblical accounts — Moses, Elijah, Jesus, Esther, and David — she approaches fasting both as a physical discipline and a spiritual offering.
She has written about the potential benefits she seeks: improved skin health, better blood sugar control (lower A1c), greater self-control, and a more forgiving heart. Even when months fall short of the goal, the practice itself remains a steady source of reflection and growth.
“Is not this the fast that I choose… to loosen the fetters of wickedness…?”
— Isaiah 58 (inspiration often reflected in her writings)Her blog is a candid, ongoing record of successes, “bust” weeks, partial fasts, and the quiet determination to keep returning to the practice.

Her earlier writings reflected a heart of gratitude. Today that same spirit lives on in her goals to get healthier via her fasting practice, her daily witnessing efforts, and her quiet perseverance.
A life shaped by migration, family, and the search for meaning across continents.
